Home Science

Established in the Girls Section in 1990, the Department of Home Science has grown steadily to become the pride of the college. The subject of Home Science deals primarily with all aspects of home and family management. But the Department here envisions to inculcate skills and provide practical exposure to such an extent that the students can adopt any related career and profession too. It also helps its students to nurture aesthetically oriented skills like rangoli, embroidery, flowers arrangement etc. It goes deeply into the science of dietary planning, child development, clothing and textiles. It is thus both an art and a science. The Department operates from two fully equipped laboratories with an attached office. It offers a three-year degree courses as one of the elective subjects in Bachelor of Arts. It also offers 3-6 months diploma courses in Fashion Designing and Tailoring. It encourages Do-it-yourself endeavours like Wall Art and is always instrumental in bringing home laurels from Zonal and Inter Zonal Youth Festivals and other inter college competitions. It successfully fulfils its professed motto to stimulate its students to give their best and make them learn till they reach perfection.
