Political Science

The Department of Political Science was started at the undergraduate level in 1946 to equip and familiarize the students with the fundamentals of political science and with an ability to critically analyse the political processes. In 1970 the department upgraded to the Post Graduate level as M.A. programme was introduced. At that time and for over more than two decades ours was the only college offering a master’s degree programme in Ludhiana and its adjoining areas of Sutlej region with separate classes for boys and girls. Since 2011 the department also started an add-on course in Human Rights and Value Education. The department is one of the most active, vibrant and innovative in the discipline of Political Science in Ludhiana city. In every session students from faraway places come to join our M.A. programme. The Department invites distinguished scholars and holds workshops, symposiums and academic visits from time to time for the articulation of the students. The faculty has published articles efficiently in books, book chapters, e-lessons, reviews, and research papers in reputed journals. The Alumni of the department have excelled in academia, banking, media and the corporate sectors.
